first reconciliation & first eucharist

Registration for the 2025-2026 year is now open! 
In the Diocese of Calgary, children receive both First Reconciliation and First Eucharist within the same year, where Reconciliation helps pave the way for a heart ready and free to receive Jesus in their First Holy Communion (Eucharist).  Information and registration can be found on our Parish Forms page here.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation bestows many gifts, including God’s forgiveness of our sins, and reconciliation with our Saviour. God begins by giving the gift of grace: to have a heart ready to turn back to God, the courage or readiness to acknowledge our sins in the sacrament, and the confidence that God helps us avoid sin in the future.  “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” (2 Cor. 5:18)

The Eucharist is the mysterious center of all the sacraments. Receiving the Eucharist is a profound encounter with Jesus Christ himself through his sacrifice on the Cross to free us from sin and give us life.  Through his invitation, the faithful are nourished by Jesus’ own Body and Blood given up for the life of the world. To receive the Eucharist is a physical sign of our unity with Jesus, and unifies us to him even more deeply. It nourishes the soul, strengthens faith, and unites us with the entire Church. To receive the Eucharist the first time is a profound introduction to a life shared with Jesus, who loves us so much that remains in the midst of his people.
