The Jubilee of Mercy

May the balm of mercy reach everyone, both believers and those far away, as a sign that the Kingdom of God is already present in our midst! – Pope Francis

December 8, 2015, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, will mark the beginning of an important year in the life of the Church: the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy.1 It will end at the close of the liturgical year – on November 20, 2016, the Solemnity of Christ the King.  This celebration is a great grace for each one of us, for the whole Church is in need of mercy; we are all sinners. It is a year in which we are invited to not only enter into a deeper, more personal experience of God’s mercy in our own lives, but to also bear witness to God’s mercy in our encounters with others.
